The Hospitality Lab invites Humour, Vulnerability, and Engagement in other ways of knowing while reflecting on the more than human.

You are invited to enter the lab of forgotten hospitable practices, old and newly invented! Your hosts, Larry Queen and Lana Oddhorn are very excited to connect with you!! Whether you need a place to relax, wish to be entertained, or meet a new friend, this performative workshop values awkward, humorous and creative ways of inviting and caring for one another’s experience.

Considering performance through the lens of hospitality, we are all hosts and guests. Interested in how ridiculousness can be an active form of resistance to normative ways of being and knowing (how to be a good performer, dancer, improviser, female, or artist), the Lab explores vulnerability as an invitation for connection, and hospitality as a lens for authentic practices

The Hospitality Lab of Forgotten Practices – a project that involves the audience in reflecting on an aesthetics of hospitality, premiered in Kassel, June 2024 as part of Tanzhaus Temporar #10 Festival – The Political Body.  Reformatted as a seminar lecture, the research was shared as part of Impulstanz LACE #2 Symposium 2024 and then further developed as a participatory public performance for Spaziertänz Kassel 2024.
