“The Kinesthetic Body”

How do movement qualities arrive and take form in our bodies? Laura has been building her approach to working with what she calls the ‘kinesthetic state’ in solo improvisation for the last seven years. Training full body movement, we work towards mapping the body through sensory expansion in specific directions. We challenge our agility and reflexes by layering qualities of movement in relation to gravity and momentum, and question how to compose time and space. These classes are geared towards the professional dancer who is interested in training an articulate solo body and deeper understanding of specificity and technique in relation to improvisation. Designed to ready the professional dancer for the day, we train our senses, move our joints, and get sweaty, all while cultivating a sense of aliveness in our bodies.
